COR'18 | Day 7-9 Farewell/Home Sweet Home

Preparing for the Hike with the students from Kavre Deaf School!

The Hike itself! It was a 3 Hours hike and we all had a buddy with us during the hike. It was definitely a unique experience, using our limited knowledge of Nepali Sign Language and basic ABCs to communicate and converse with the students of Kavre. Along the way, we enjoyed the scenery and the scent of nature. It was definitely a rewarding experience.

When we reached the school, we had a cultural performance exchange where we performed a short skit on Singapore's history as well as showcased multi racial dance. In return, the students of Kavre Deaf School performed a traditional Nepal dance in their traditional costume and we were all so intrigued by the beautiful performance they provided. We also painted a tree, using our hand prints to created the leaves of the tree. It is an iconic tree because it had both COR'18 and students of Kavre Deaf School's hand print. Thank you Kavre Deaf School for welcoming and hosting us!

After the closing ceremony, we went back to Kathmandu and explored historical sites of Nepal along with a guide to explain to us the history and culture of Nepal. We also went to a Cafe where some of the staff there are Deaf. Using the Nepali signs we knew and the ASL they knew, we managed to had a fun time interacting with them. And sadly, the next day we had to leave Nepal.

That's all Folks!
