COR'17 goes to MYANMAR

This year, COR has decided to step foot on the Golden Land of Myanmar, not only to have fun but also to offer our services to our partners who has kindly agreed to liaise with us via our Programmers (Xiu Ming, Zhi Min, Hui Min)!

Before we knew it, 2nd semester of the academic year ended; the day that all of us have been working all year-round finally came!

27th May was when we embarked on our 9-day Myanmar service trip! All of us packed our bags and logs needed and assembled at the airport early in the morning (7am to be exact 😖).

Each COR member was paired with our Deaf volunteers and we were split into 4 different tribes (Lacedaemon, Maya, Cairo, Atlantis). Aptly named to fit our theme of Lost Ancient Civilisations!

Without further ado... featuring our 4 tribes with their Chief Group Leaders (CGLs)!!

LACEDEAMON with CGL Erwin!

*pronounced as 'lesser-dee-men'*

MAYA with CGL Dave!

CAIRO with CGL Pei Ning!

Lastly, ATLANTIS with CGL Bernie!!

Boarding on our Jetstar flight, ft. Biz Mag Hui Wen and her buddy Naishah!

After a short 3h flight, we finally reached Myanmar! Ft. Biz Mag Alicia and her buddy Hui Keng!

It was pouring when we reached..

Fortunately, our host graciously provided us with bus transport to our home for the next 9 days!

A glimpse of our living spaces in Myanmar!

Shortly after placing our belongings in the house, we traveled by bus to the nearest mall to stock up on logistics needed!

Once we were done, we were on our way back for our first dinner in Myanmar provided by our host!

This service in Yangon was facilitated by two siblings - Ms Yi Fang and Mr Hua Dong Allan (bottom left in photo). Hailing from Myanmar, both of them act as the host and organizer of our project this year. The siblings have been working closely with NTU student clubs from 2012; examples including annual overseas exchange programmes and NTU Rotaract Club’s overseas expedition project in Myanmar.

Ever since their partnership in hosting for Myanmar, NTU has continued to re-invite the siblings to host more clubs in NTU for future overseas CIP in Myanmar. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to them for making our service trip in Yangon so smooth and fruitful!
